Threads, the latest application from Meta, is now making its debut in Europe. This article introduces the principles of Threads and its various features, helping European users to navigate this new platform seamlessly.
Threads is akin to X, a microblogging social network, but connected to Instagram. Users can post messages up to 500 characters (as opposed to 280 on X for non-premium users). Threads almost mirrors the interface of Elon Musk's social network, so much so that it faced legal threats from Twitter (known as such at the time) for alleged copying.
Creating an account on Threads is done via your Instagram account, allowing the import of user information, including username, profile picture, description, followers, etc. Your initial timeline on Threads will consist of your Instagram followers who have also joined Threads.
Additionally, Threads lacks a private messaging feature, which might be integrated from Instagram soon.
The language used on Threads will evolve with its user base. Jonathan Chan, a digital expert, has attempted to compile a preliminary list of terms specific to Threads.
Threads appears as a serious competitor to X, with a user-friendly interface. The platform is currently marked by a sense of friendliness, contrasting with the often turbulent exchanges on X.
