OpenAI's GPT-4o now brings advanced features to free ChatGPT users, including web browsing, file import, image analysis, data analysis, custom chatbots, and image generation.
In a recent tweet, OpenAI announced the availability of numerous features in the free version of ChatGPT. Let's explore what these new functionalities entail.

On May 13, 2024, OpenAI launched its new “omnimodel” language model, GPT-4o. This model integrates the capabilities of GPT-4 and offers improved performance in areas such as voice functions and image analysis. Unlike GPT-4, GPT-4o is accessible to all users, including those using the free version, though with a usage limit.
Following a gradual rollout of this new model, OpenAI announced via a tweet on Wednesday, May 29, that it is now fully available to free users.
To recap, a live video analysis feature, which OpenAI showcased with impressive examples, is also expected to be supported by the model. However, the availability date for this feature has not yet been announced.

As stated in the tweet, free users can now benefit from features previously reserved for paid subscribers. Here’s a breakdown of these new functionalities:

Web Browsing: With GPT-4o, you can ask ChatGPT to gather information from the web, allowing access to up-to-date data. In contrast, GPT-3.5, with training data limited to January 2022, cannot browse the web.

File Import: Communication with GPT-3.5 is limited to text prompts. However, GPT-4o allows you to upload files in various formats (Word, Excel, PDF, JPG, PNG, etc.).

Data Analysis: After uploading a file, you can use ChatGPT to clean your data or perform more in-depth analysis. OpenAI provides a dedicated information page on how to conduct data analysis with its conversational agent.

Custom Chatbots: Custom chatbots, designed by companies or users, specialize in fields like cooking, SEO, gaming, writing, etc. They are integrated into a dedicated store called GPT Store. With the free version of ChatGPT, you can now access these GPTs, though creation is restricted.

Image Generation: Although OpenAI hasn’t specifically announced this, image generation has been added to the new features for free users. Powered by DALL-E 3, this feature lets you create images by incorporating elements of your choice in various styles, all from a simple text prompt.
