Microsoft Unveils Copilot Pro: A Premium Offering Similar to ChatGPT Plus

Microsoft has introduced Copilot Pro, a paid version similar to ChatGPT Plus, priced at €22 per month. This version features enhanced environment understanding, access to GPT-4 Turbo, improved image creation, and custom chatbot creation. Copilot Pro does not require a Microsoft 365 subscription, but it provides additional benefits for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers. Microsoft is also expanding Copilot for organizations with professional-level security and compliance.

Microsoft has recently announced the launch of Copilot Pro, a premium subscription service that mirrors the functionalities of ChatGPT Plus. The move signifies Microsoft's continued focus on the development of Copilot as a key product for 2024. Copilot Pro, designed as a premium subscription for individuals, is priced at €22 (or $20) per month per user. This service is available on the web and is soon to be launched on iOS and Android applications.

The primary features of Copilot Pro include:

  • Enhanced Environment Understanding: Copilot Pro boasts the capability to understand users' contexts across the web, PC, applications, and soon, mobile devices, delivering tailored responses.
  • Access to GPT-4 Turbo: Microsoft guarantees access to the latest models, including GPT-4 Turbo, even during peak hours.
  • Advanced Image Creation: Copilot Pro enhances image creation through Creator from Designer (formerly Bing Image Creator), offering faster performance, landscape formatting, and more detailed images.
  • Custom Chatbot Creation: A notable feature is the introduction of customizable chatbots on Copilot.

It is not mandatory to have a Microsoft 365 subscription to access Copilot. However, for subscribers of 365 Personal and Family plans, Copilot Pro provides integrated Copilot access in applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote across PC, Mac, and iPad.

Subscriptions for Copilot Pro can be made here.

Personalized GPTs on Copilot

Copilot's new version introduces personalized chatbots. Taking a leaf out of ChatGPT's book, Microsoft will initially integrate in-house GPTs on various topics like fitness, travel, and cooking, accessible to all users, including those using the free version. Subsequently, Copilot Pro subscribers will have the opportunity to create their conversational agents.

According to Microsoft's video release, these chatbots will be accessible from the right sidebar menu, although they are not yet available. Microsoft has not clarified whether these custom agents can be shared publicly, similar to offerings on the GPT Store.

Microsoft 365 Copilot for All Organizations

While Microsoft views Copilot Pro as the "best experience for individuals," the company highlights that 365 Copilot remains the most suitable option for organizational needs. Initially launched for major enterprises in November, this service is now extended to organizations of all sizes.

Copilot for 365, available at $30 per month per user, integrates the conversational agent within 365 suite applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. This service also ensures the security of professional data.

With a commitment to professional-level security, privacy, compliance, and customer copyright rights, Microsoft is eager to see how businesses of all sizes can leverage AI to reach new heights.
