Instagram tests polls in comments

Instagram continues to innovate to offer its users new ways to interact and engage their community.‍A recent announcement made by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri promises to bring a significant change to the way we interact with comments on Reels and posts. Instagram is currently testing a polls feature in comments, which should be available to all users soon.‍

A New Way to Interact with Comments

In a message broadcast on his IG Updates broadcast channel, Adam Mosseri revealed this new feature. Users will soon be able to create polls in the comments of their posts and Reels. Although this is currently in the testing phase, Mark Zuckerberg also confirmed on his own channel that this feature will be rolling out globally in the near future.

Adam Mosseri enthusiastically shared this announcement: "Do you have a question for your followers? We're starting a small test to add a poll or vote in the comments of a post or Reel. We're always looking for new ways to interact with friends and creators."

This new feature has already been tested by some creators in France, although, for the moment, it seems to only be available on smartphones.

Revitalize the Comments Space

Instagram tests polls in comments

Until now, Instagram users could add polls to their Stories as stickers, and more recently, in broadcast messages. Introducing polls to the comments area is part of Instagram's efforts to revitalize this section. This initiative began last May with the addition of GIFs. For brands and creators, this new functionality will not only offer the possibility of soliciting the engagement of their community, but also of collecting their opinions on certain products or content.

Interestingly, Meta, Instagram's parent company, appears to be taking a keen interest in polls. They have been available for several years on Messenger and in Facebook groups, and were introduced within WhatsApp conversations in 2022. Last May, new poll options were integrated into WhatsApp, such as the single vote, the tool search and notifications.

In summary, Instagram is preparing to introduce a polls feature in comments, giving users a new way to interact with their community and solicit feedback. Stay tuned for this update as it may soon arrive on your Instagram account, further enriching your experience on this ever-evolving social media platform.
