Google Launches Gemini: A Groundbreaking AI Model for Bard and Pixel

On December 7, 2023, Google announced the rollout of Gemini, their most advanced AI model, spanning from consumer applications to enterprise computing capabilities.

Gemini: A Multimodal AI Marvel

Demis Hassabis, CEO and co-founder of Google DeepMind, hailed Gemini as their "most capable and general model yet." Designed to be multimodal, it seamlessly processes and combines diverse information types such as text, code, audio, images, and video. Gemini excels in popular programming languages like Python, Java, C++, and Go.

Three Variants for Versatile Use

Gemini is available in three versions: Nano, Pro, and Ultra, ensuring compatibility from data centers to smartphones. Google's chatbot Bard is already leveraging an enhanced version of Gemini Pro. Gemini Ultra, set to revolutionize Bard in a new feature named "Bard Advanced," will debut early next year.

Gemini in Pixel 8 Pro

The Pixel 8 Pro is the first smartphone equipped to run Gemini Nano, enhancing features like "Summarize" in the Recorder app and Smart Reply in Gboard, starting with WhatsApp.

Developer and Enterprise Access

Starting December 13, developers and business clients can access Gemini Pro via the Gemini API in Google AI Studio or Google Cloud Vertex AI. Gemini Ultra, still in testing, will be available early next year.

Future Expansions

Google plans to integrate Gemini into more products and services in the coming months, including Search, Ads, Chrome, and Duet AI.
